Fresh Artists partnered with Weavers Way Cooperative Association and the Ambler Mennonite Church to complete its first Community Fridge installation! The fridge brings children’s artwork to a new kind of public canvas, one dedicated to feeding neighbors and strengthening communities. Wrapped in vibrant, weatherproof industrial vinyl, reproductions of children’s artwork on the theme of Healthy Foods, the outdoor fridge transforms a simple community resource into a welcoming work of public art.
Community Fridges are volunteer-supported spaces that provide free, accessible food 24/7 to anyone who needs it. A community-led initiative that rapidly gained global momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the movement’s spirit of generosity, Fresh Artists saw an opportunity for their young philanthropists to contribute in a uniquely creative way. Instead of leaving refrigerators with weathered or hand-painted exteriors, the organization developed a large portfolio of professionally printed vinyl wraps featuring children’s original artwork. Fresh Artists created an installation that is both visually uplifting and durable enough for year-round outdoor use.
The project also marked an important milestone for Fresh Artists’ expanding workforce development efforts. Children's artwork transforms into a large-scale surface pattern through professional printing and graphic installation techniques, introducing young artists to the possibilities of careers in the printing and design industries. The installation served as an early expression of Fresh Artists' Kids Who Print, where students work alongside industry professionals to learn how artwork can move from sketchbooks to large-format public installations.

For Fresh Artists, the project represents more than a beautifully wrapped fridge, it reflects the organization’s belief that children’s creativity belongs far beyond the classroom and can make a meaningful difference in everyday life. Artwork that might once have remained on the family’s refrigerator door now helps brighten a Community Fridge serving hundreds of neighbors in need. A powerful reminder that art can nourish communities in more ways than one.
