Hooray for Supplies!
2010 Grant Application Procedure
The 2010 Grant application period is now closed. Art teachers who
applied for grants have been notified by mail confirming their
acceptance and their choice of Art Kits.
Thank you for your interest and support. Fresh Artists is honored
to serve the children and the dedicated public school art teachers who engage, enrich and inspire our children through meaningful art education.
How'd we do?
We are pleased to announce that for the second year, Fresh Artists has offered
grants of free art supplies to art teachers in the School District of Philadelphia.
In our first two years, Fresh Artists has delivered the retail value of $100,000
in art supplies to Philadelphia public school art teachers!
Who was eligible for a 2010 grant of art supplies?
- Art teachers teaching in the School District of Philadelphia on January 1st, 2010,
could apply to request a grant of free art supplies for their classrooms. - If a teacher received a grant in spring of 2009, they must have
successfully submitted a Grant Report by January 15th, 2010. - Full-time art teachers verified for serving two SDP schools may apply for two grants.
How does it work?
- We've streamlined the delivery system this year by creating several different
Art Supply Kits. Eligible art teachers chose one Art Supply Kit when they
applied. All Kits are approximately the same value. This system replaced the
individual catalog ordering system of the previous year.

- Kits were developed by volunteer art teachers and our vendor, Merion Art
and Repro, using data compiled from both last year’s art supplies orders and the
answers teachers gave to the question about the “top 5 art supplies you would
like to receive” on the 2009 Grant Report form. - Teachers received an email from Fresh Artists confirming that their
application was received. Each applicant recieved notice by mail to their
home address by February 15th if their application was accepted.
We also confirmed the Kit selected. Once chosen, Kit choice could not be altered.
We've changed the way we deliver art supplies this year
to make things easier for everyone.
